Rest

Rest begins with just feeling into rest. Consider the following:

Do you rest well?

Do you rest at all?

How does rest make you feel?

What kind of rest nourishes you the most?

If you are able and feeling up to it, finding time to get your hands or feet on the earth is also restful. It can be like a gentle charging up - rest a while with the strong, supportive earth element - perhaps on rock, sand, grassland, gardens. Even taking in the views and allowing our sight to rest a while on trees, on grass blowing in the wind, on small plants or bright flowers. Finding peace, inspiration or nurture in nature is often replenishing.

If you don’t feel safe in nature, or in resting a while looking at natural wonders, there are groups out there who may be a way in - walking groups, nature groups, CICs, social prescribing, community gardens, community groups, birds/animal groups and much more. See if you could find something that you might be able to get involved with - just a little, or a lot.

Here are some great resources on rest, an essential part of our lives and something that is not well encouraged:

If you would like to work with me and feel called to work within Nature get in touch. There are a variety of options however there are only limited spaces for these.

Walk and Talk:

I work with people in counselling outside - this is often called Walk and Talk and involves walking (rambling or wandering slowly is usually how it unfolds) and exploring what comes up in the natural landscape that reflects the inner psychic landscape. There are a few wild areas in which I do this work. Sometimes there are other people, or dogs, or wind but in general it is a beautiful practice to be outside and exploring your wellbeing.

Wild Rites of Passage:

Sometimes if we are in need of a transition I bring my rites of passage work in. This usually involves a few sessions of planning what is needed and a session of 3-4 hours creating the rite and going through a marking of the transformation envisioned. It is powerful and beautiful work and can form part of the therapeutic journey or be a stand alone booking.
